Let's imagine that you want to burn a data CD or DVD, but you don't want other people to have access to specific files or folders stored on the disk, unless they enter a password. Windows doesn't normally allow you to burn such discs, but you can easily do this with the help of GiliSoft Secure Disc Creator.

As its name clearly states, this Windows application allows you to burn data discs that contain files which can only be accessed using a password. The encryption algorithm used by the program is AES 256 bits, meaning that hackers will not be able to break the password protection. After the program has been installed and launched, you will be presented with a simple but clean interface, which has all the options in the right place.

In order to be able to add protected files to the burning session, you will first need to insert a blank disc into the optical disc recorder. At this point, you will be able to freely add files and folders. Optionally, you can configure the program to create an ISO disc image instead of burning a blank disc. You can select the size of the ISO image, by choosing from CD to the DVD format. You can even create a custom size ISO image. After the image has been created, you can burn it to a blank disc using any regular burning software, like Nero Burning ROM or even by using the Windows burning utility.

Besides allowing you to secure certain files stored on optical discs, GiliSoft Secure Disc Creator also includes an ISO burning facility, which allows you to burn virtually any ISO disc image to a blank disc. There is also an option for mounting ISO images to virtual optical drives, so that you can access the contents of the ISO image just like you would in the situation of a real disc.
